Abstract
Background : Atrial fibrillation after CABG is a relatively high complication with an incidence rate of 20% to 50%. These complications impact the clinical situation, hemodynamic stability, stroke, thromboembolism, and length of hospital stay. Identification of risk factors for atrial fibrillation after CABG has yielded inconsistent results. Until now there is no definite predictor of the incidence of atrial fibrillation after CABG, so further identification is needed. In an effort to prevent adverse consequences resulting from atrial fibrillation after CABG, this study analyzed preoperative risk factors in patients undergoing CABG to identify predictors of atrial fibrillation after CABG. Method : An analytical retrospective cohort study was conducted on patients who underwent CABG at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital in 2019 – 2022. The end point of this study was the new onset of atrial fibrillation after CABG. The variables recorded consisted of baseline characteristics, risk factors, history of preoperative drug consumption, and preoperative echocardiography results. Results : A total of 65 patients met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, atrial fibrillation after CABG occurred in 24.6% of the total patients. The results of univariate logistic regression showed that only history of preoperative CCB consumption (p = 0.049) was significant. In this study, it was found that a history of preoperative CCB consumption increased the risk of atrial fibrillation after CABG by 411.1% (OR 5.111; 95% CI 1.005 – 25.987). Conclusions : Preoperative use of CCB is a predictor of atrial fibrillation after CABG. Keywords : atrial fibrillation, coronary artery bypass graft, predictor
