Abstract

This study is a form of quantitative research that aims to the long-term goal to be achieved to investigate and provide understanding whether there is an influence between firm size, leverage, and profitability on financial distress, particularly in the energy sector. This study's population consists of 49 energy sector businesses registered on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2017 -2022 period. To gained a sample point, this research used a purposive sampling strategy to acquire sample points from 49 companies. The hypothesis testing tool employed is logistic regression analysis with E-views 12.0 software, as well as data processing with Microsoft Excel 2016. This study provides results, namely (a) firm size as measured by the SIZE proxy has an effect on financial distress, (b) leverage as measured by the Debt to Assets Ratio (DAR) proxy has an effect on financial distress, and (c) profitability as measured by the Return on Assets (ROA) proxy has an effect on financial distress.
