Abstract
The presence of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), both at the Provincial and Regency/City levels, provides representation for community representatives in local government. However, the existence of the DPRD at the Regency/City level is not found in the local goverment in Jakarta due to its specificity as the capital city of the country. The existence of this DPRD was replaced with the Dewan Kota/Dewan Kabupaten which only exists in Jakarta. This study aims to determine the role of the Dewan Kota/Dewan Kabupaten in the local government in Jakarta. This study uses a normative legal research method using a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The results of this study indicate that the Dewan Kota/Dewan Kabupaten has a role as a forum for reciprocity between the community and the local government in Jakarta. The implementation of the role of the Dewan Kota/Dewan Kabupaten is considered to be still not running effectively. This is caused by several factors, the first is related to the limited authority of the Dewan Kota/Dewan Kabupaten. The second is related to the lack of supporting facilities for the implementation of their duties and obligations. The third is related to the process of selecting members of the Dewan Kota/Dewan Kabupaten which did not run optimally.
