Abstract
The need for passenger and cargo ships has increased in the last 40 years. During that time, various forms of ships have been widely developed, including single-hull ships (monohull), and multi-hull ships (multihull). The shape of the hull of the ship will affect the characteristics of the resistance and seakeeping experienced by the ship. This study will focus on the calculation of the resistance and continue with the calculation of seakeeping in regular wave conditions. It begins with a monohull, catamaran, and trimaran modelling with the NPL-4a hull type, with a S/L ratio for catamaran and trimaran of 0.4. The calculation of resistance will be using Ansys CFX Software, with Froude number variations of 0.50, 0.60, 0.70, 0.80, 0.90, and 1.00. And, the seakeeping calculation will be using Ansys AQWA Software, with the ship movement response that includes heave, pitch, and roll on regular waves. The results of the simulation found that for resistance, catamaran experienced the lowest resistance with a value of 6.20 kN at a Froude number of 1.00, followed by trimaran and monohull. For seakeeping, it founds that the trimaran has a better response to waves with a heave value of 1.0230 m, a roll value of 9.4972°, and a pitch value of 8.3464°.
