Abstract
Online games are games that are played online. The player of this online game consist of various groups and ages, both young and old. Uniquely, in an online game, there are many simbols and terms. Each online game has different terms and symbols, but there are some online games that have similar or even the same terms and symbols. Each of these terms and symbols has its own meaning. The use of these terms and symbols makes it easier for players to communicate with other players while playing a game. The existence of these symbols and terms creates a new culture of communication between players, specially for those who are addicted to online games. Frequently this communication can only be understood by fellow gamers only because of the internal context of the discussion. For those who are not a gamers, it will be more hard to know and understand their communication. This causes a gap between gamers and non-gamers. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The research data was obtained by interviewing six gamers. It consists of three osu! players and three Counter Strike: Global Offensive players. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed based on research concepts and symbolic interactionism theory. The questions asked are in the form of specific questions and general questions. The result is an addicted gamers' communication experience that is unique because of the many uses of terms or symbols and abbreviations. The beginning of their becoming addicted is not because of withdrawal from the social environment. Their friends are indeed more in the online game world, but that doesn't mean they don't want to have friends in the real life.
