Abstract

This article discusses Indonesia's cooperation with the IOTC in managing Indonesian fisheries in a sustainable manner which has the potential for the Indonesian economy and to protect marine resources it must be done as well as possible due to overfishing. The Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) is one of the regional fisheries organizations or the Regional Fisheries Management Organization (RFMO) for tuna fish resources in the management area which includes the Indian Ocean. IOTC members are not limited to countries directly bordering the Indian Ocean, such as Indonesia, but also other countries that have an interest in tuna in these waters. Indonesia became a full member of the IOTC on July 9, 2007. This collaboration was realized through a program carried out by the India Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC). The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach. The author obtains data through library research, namely collecting data from books, articles, journals, and the internet. The final result in this paper wants to show that the collaboration has an important role to Indonesia for the management of tuna in Indonesia.
