Abstract
Tuberculosis is currently one of the ten leading causes of death in the world. In general, tuberculosis can attack all age groups, one of which is the age of 0-59 months because at this age, tuberculosis does not show specific symptoms, and the process of diagnosing tuberculosis is quite difficult. Moreover, in this age, the optimal immune system has not yet been formed. In 2019 in Indonesia, there were 70,341 children suffering from tuberculosis, and more than 50% of them were infants and toddlers. Therefore, this study aims to find out the relationship between nutritional status and BCG vaccination with the incidences of tuberculosis in infants and toddlers in Indonesia in 2018. The study used the data of Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) 2018 with a cross-sectional study. The analysis used in this study was the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression. The results of multivariate analysis showed that nutritional status (p = <0.001; POR=1.21; 95% CI 1.18-1.24) and BCG vaccination (p = <0.001; POR=1.40; 95% CI 1.34-1.46) have a significant relationship to the incidences of tuberculosis on infants and toddlers. Thus, there is a relationship between nutritional status and BCG vaccination with the incidences of tuberculosis in infants and toddlers after controlling the age variable as a confounder. It is suggested for parents of infants and toddlers to meet the nutritional status of their children and not forget to have BCG vaccination according to the specified schedule.
