Abstract
Lake Toba is one of the national tourist destinations which has a geographical condition in the form of a water area, so traditional crossing vessels are the preferred mode of transportation which is often used to support mobility for local residents and tourists. Several traditional crossing vessels accidents on Lake Toba are caused by several factors such as the weather of Lake Toba's waters, the construction of these traditional crossing vessel and human errors. One example of a traditional crossing vessel at Lake Toba is the accident of KM Sinar Bangun which caused many casualties and material losses. The purpose of this study is to analyze the causes of KM Sinar Bangun traditional crossing vessel accidents and sailing safety standards in Lake Toba. The results of this study are to minimize the number of ship accidents on Lake Toba and to provide education to the local residents and all readers.
