Abstract
Indonesia is a country that is located between three tectonic plates, namely: Eurasian plate, Pacific plate, and Australia-Australia plate. This condition makes Indonesia vulnerable to natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and other types of natural disasters. Therefore, Indonesian people need to prepare themselves with complete information related to natural disasters, especially school-age children who are one of the vulnerable groups to becoming victims during a disaster. The purpose of this literature review is to analyze the effectiveness of educational media on the knowledge and attitudes of natural disaster preparedness in elementary school children. This writing uses the results of literature from several databases; there are Pubmed, Science Direct, J store, and the Google Scholar search engine. Eight journals met the inclusion criteria of the study. The results show: three journals concluded that print media such as printed book were effective in increasing knowledge about natural disasters in primary school children. Two journals found that audio-visual media were effective in increasing the preparedness attitude. Another three journals explained that board game media was effective in increasing both knowledge and preparedness attitudes of natural disasters of the students. Conclusion: Boardgame is the most effective educational media to increase the knowledge and attitude of natural disaster preparedness in elementary school children compared to audio-visual media and printed books.
