Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the Political Socialization of Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection on Public Awareness in Protecting Personal Data in Sawah Village, South Tangerang. This study is based on Paul Allen Beck's Political Socialization theory to explain the independent variable (X) and Soerjono Soekanto's Legal Awareness theory to explain the dependent variable (Y). The research approach used was a quantitative explanatory approach using a survey method of productive-age residents (15–64 years old) in Sawah Village. A sample of 100 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula through probability sampling techniques. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire with a four-point Likert scale and analyzed using simple linear regression in SPSS. The results showed that the Political Socialization of the Personal Data Protection Law had a positive and significant effect on Public Awareness (t-test = 8.377; p < 0.001) with a regression equation of Y = 19.771 + 0.507X. The regression coefficient value indicates that each unit increase in political socialization increases public awareness by 0.507 units. The coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.411 indicates that political socialization contributes 41.1% to public awareness. This study concludes that effective political socialization plays a crucial role in encouraging increased knowledge, understanding, attitudes, and shaping public behavior regarding personal data protection in the digital age.
