Abstract

Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is a versatile welding technique that utilizes Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding to deposit materials layer by layer. This method offers significant advantages, including high deposition rates, cost-effectiveness, and the ability to fabricate complex geometries. While WAAM is increasingly used in various industries, understanding the mechanical properties of the deposited material is crucial for its performance and reliability. This study investigates the Vickers hardness of materials deposited using the WAAM process, focusing on the impact of deposition parameters on the material’s resistance to deformation and wear. Hardness measurements were conducted across various regions of the deposit to evaluate the distribution and consistency of hardness. The results indicate that process parameters, such as heat input and cooling rate, have a significant influence on the mechanical performance of the deposited material by affecting its microstructure. These findings provide valuable insights into how WAAM parameters can be optimized to improve material properties and ensure consistent mechanical performance in industrial applications.
