Abstract

Quality of life is an important indicator in evaluating the success of treatment in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. This study aims to analyze the effects of patient safety and treatment adherence on the quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease at the Hemodialysis Unit of RSAU Dr. Esnawan Antariksa in 2026. The research method used was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design, conducted from May to June 2026. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling of chronic kidney disease patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, with a minimum sample size of 125. The prevalence of “good” quality of life among chronic kidney disease patients was 59.2%. Multivariate results found that adherence to the hemodialysis schedule was the variable with the greatest influence on the quality of life of chronic kidney disease patients, with an adjusted OR of 3.465 (95% CI: 1.107–10.849; p=0.033). This means that patients with high adherence to their hemodialysis schedule are 3.465 times more likely to have a good quality of life, after controlling for the variables of accuracy in patient identification, improved effective communication, accuracy of location and surgical procedures, fluid intake restrictions and adherence to dietary recommendations, as well as educational level. It is recommended to develop educational and support programs that involve family members as the patients’ primary caregivers. Family involvement is important in reminding patients of their hemodialysis schedule, medication intake, fluid restrictions, and dietary management.
