Abstract
Blue open space has the potential as one of the open spaces whose surrounding area can be utilized by the community to support activities related to health, such as facilitating physical activity. This study aims to identify factors related to the utilization of blue open space in East Ciputat District, South Tangerang City, in 2026. The variables examined included knowledge, attitude, physical activity, age, education level, accessibility, proximity, availability of facilities, environmental cleanliness, and social support. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design involving 146 respondents at Situ Gintung who were selected using purposive sampling in June 2026. Primary data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed in univariate, bivariate with Chi-Square test and simple logistic regression, and multivariate with multiple logistic regression. The final model showed that the availability of facilities was significantly related to the utilization of blue open space. Compared with respondents who perceived low availability of facilities, respondents who perceived good availability of facilities were 3.9 times (adjusted POR = 3.94; 95% CI: 1.26–12.29) more likely to have good utilization, while respondents who perceived moderate availability of facilities were 2.5 times (adjusted POR = 2.51; 95% CI: 1.025–6.155) more likely to have good utilization. Facilities that respondents still perceived as low include toilet, lighting, and trash bins. The management is advised to improve these facilities by adding trash bins, particularly in high-activity areas, adding lighting in poorly lit areas, and accessible public toilet. These improvements are expected to improve the utilization of blue open space without compromising its primary function and intended use.
