Abstract

CV XYZ is a garment manufacturing company in South Tangerang producing Pertamina field service uniforms using a make-to-stock system. Fabric procurement decisions have relied on assumptions and experience rather than quantitative methods, creating risks of overstock and stockout. This study aims to forecast finished product demand and establish a data-driven inventory control policy for fabric raw materials. Data used covers historical demand and fabric purchases from July 2024 to June 2025. Forecasting methods compared include Naive, Moving Average, and Single Exponential Smoothing, evaluated using MAPE, MAD, and MSE. Results show Single Exponential Smoothing with α = 0.1 as the best method with a MAPE of 17.6%. The demand forecast for the next period is 2,407 units, equivalent to 6,499 yards of fabric. At a 95% service level, inventory control parameters are: Safety Stock of 853 yards, Reorder Point of 2,375 yards, Maximum Stock of 3,897 yards, and Order Quantity of 1,522 yards. These findings are intended to serve as a reference for CV XYZ in implementing a more systematic and data-driven approach to inventory planning and control as an alternative to its current conventional practices.
