Abstract
This study was motivated by the low electoral success of female legislative candidates in the 2024 Jakarta Provincial DPRD Election, a situation that contrasts with the predominance of female voters, particularly in Jagakarsa District. Although female voters outnumber male voters, the electoral success rate of female legislative candidates stood at 25.5% in the Province of Jakarta. This situation indicates relatively weak support in female voters' voting behavior for the political representation of female legislative candidates. The study aims to examine the influence of political representation on the voting behavior of female voters in Jagakarsa District during the 2024 Jakarta Provincial DPRD Election, as well as to identify the factors influencing that voting behavior. The study employed a quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires administered to female voters in Jagakarsa District. This research applies Hanna Pitkin's theory of political representation and voter behavior theory, encompassing sociological, psychological, and rational-choice dimensions. The findings indicate that political representation explains 58.7% of the variation in female voters' voting behavior. The psychological and rational-choice dimensions are the most influential factors in shaping female voters' political choices, while the sociological dimension tends to play a weaker role. Female voters in Jagakarsa tend to base their voting decisions on candidate orientation, issues, perceived benefits, and confidence in the candidates. Nevertheless, gender bias persists, with men still commonly perceived as stronger political leaders.
