Abstract
Hypertension is one of the leading non-communicable diseases contributing to morbidity and mortality worldwide. Drivers are among the occupational groups at risk of hypertension due to prolonged working hours, high mobility, and exposure to various individual risk factors. This study aimed to analyze the association between individual factors and work shifts with the incidence of hypertension among drivers at PT Jackal Holidays. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted involving 75 drivers. Data were collected through blood pressure measurements using a digital sphygmomanometer and structured questionnaires assessing age, body mass index (BMI), family history of hypertension, smoking behavior, sleep quality, work stress, workload, length of employment, dietary patterns, and work shifts. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and Chi-square or Fisher's Exact tests. The prevalence of hypertension was 33.3%. Significant associations were found between hypertension and age (p=0.006), body mass index (p=0.035), family history of hypertension (p=0.039), and work shifts (p=0.049). Meanwhile, smoking behavior, sleep quality, work stress, workload, length of employment, and dietary patterns were not significantly associated with hypertension (p>0.05). The study concludes that several individual factors and work shifts are associated with hypertension among drivers. Therefore, workplace health promotion programs, periodic health screening, and effective work schedule management are recommended to reduce hypertension risk among workers.
