Abstract
Exports are one of the key drivers of economic growth, and the apparel industry is one of Indonesia's leading export sectors. This study aims to analyze the effects of the real exchange rate, gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, foreign direct investment (FDI), and cotton import prices on Indonesia's ready-made garment export volume. The study employs annual time-series data for the period 1990–2022, consisting of 33 observations, obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the World Bank, UN Comtrade, and Bruegel. The analytical method used is the Error Correction Model (ECM). The results indicate that the real exchange rate has a significant effect in the long run but no significant effect in the short run. GDP per capita and cotton import prices have significant effects in both the long run and the short run, whereas foreign direct investment (FDI) has no significant effect in either the long run or the short run on Indonesia's ready-made garment export volume.
