Abstract

An effective decision-making process in athlete selection is crucial to supporting the federation’s success in competing and achieving the best possible results in a competition. FONI DKI Jakarta currently still uses manual methods for its athlete selection process; this has the potential to result in a sub-optimal selection process when determining the best athletes, as it is time-consuming, carries a risk of data errors, and makes it difficult for the federation to compare all athletes’ performances simultaneously. To address these issues, this research aims to develop a web-based decision support system by applying the Multi-Objective Optimisation on the Basis of Ratio Analysis (MOORA) method as the basis for calculations to assist in the decision-making process for selecting the best athletes. In its calculations, this method utilises four main criteria: performance, training attendance, physical ability and navigational skills. This research has produced a web-based decision support system; this system has been implemented and tested to assist in the selection of athletes and to help sports managers in the process of assessing and evaluating each athlete based on predetermined assessment criteria in line with the requirements of the competition. The final output of the system will provide a recommendation for the best athletes in the form of an athlete ranking.
