Abstract

Trigger Finger is a form of stenosing tenosynovitis that causes pain, stiffness, and movement limitation of the fingers, particularly affecting the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint. This case study aims to determine the effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions using Ultrasound and Hold Relax Exercise in improving joint range of motion, muscle strength, and functional abilities in a patient diagnosed with Trigger Finger. The subject was a 59-year-old woman presenting with limited finger movement, tenderness, and difficulty performing daily activities. The intervention was conducted over three sessions at RSU Kota Tangerang Selatan in April 2025. Evaluation tools included the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), goniometer, Manual Muscle Test (MMT), and Wrist Hand Disability Index (WHDI). The results showed significant pain reduction (rest pain 2→0, tenderness 5→3, movement pain 3→1), increased muscle strength (flexor and extensor from 3/5→5/5), and improved MCP joint range of motion (flexion–extension improved from 75° to 85° and 30° to 40°). WHDI scores decreased from 40% to 10%, indicating enhanced functional ability. In conclusion, the combination of Ultrasound therapy and Hold Relax Exercise is effective in reducing pain, restoring joint mobility, improving muscle strength, and enhancing hand function in patients with Trigger Finger Keywords: Trigger Finger, Ultrasound, Hold Relax Exercise, Range of Motion, Physiotherapy
