Abstract
Dating violence among adolescents is a public health problem that has shown a significant increase in Indonesia, with the number of reported cases rising nearly threefold from 2021 to 2022, reaching 3,950 cases. South Tangerang is among the regions with a relatively high incidence, recording 226 cases. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with dating violence among adolescents in South Tangerang in 2025. The study employed a mixed-methods design with a sequential explanatory approach. Quantitative data were collected through a survey of 266 adolescents using purposive sampling, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with six informants. The results indicated significant associations (p < 0.05) between age (p = 0.019), knowledge (p = 0.005), attitudes (p = 0.009), experience of violence (p = 0.0001), social support (p = 0.018), duration of the dating relationship (p = 0.044), relationship power imbalance (p = 0.005), and gender inequality (p = 0.0001) with the occurrence of dating violence among adolescents in South Tangerang. Social support was identified as the most dominant factor associated with dating violence, with a prevalence odds ratio (POR) of 0.323. Qualitative findings revealed that emotional support from peers, such as empathy and willingness to listen, plays a crucial role in helping adolescents recognize and disengage from unhealthy relationships. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening school-based preventive interventions involving health professionals, with an emphasis on improving adolescents’ knowledge, gender awareness, and peer social support to prevent dating violence. Keywords: Social Support; Dating Violence; Gender Inequality; Adolescents
