Abstract

The fast fashion industry has attracted significant global attention due to its environmental impacts and unsustainable production practices. These impacts have compelled industry actors, including H&M, to adopt and integrate sustainability strategies into their business models and investment decisions. Increasing pressure from consumers, investors, and international regulations has further encouraged multinational corporations such as H&M to direct their operational activities and investments toward more sustainable practices. This study aims to analyze the sustainability strategies implemented by H&M in Bangladesh during the period 2020–2024. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through a literature review of national and international academic journals, as well as secondary data from sustainability reports, annual reports, academic publications, non-governmental organization documents, and online media sources. The findings indicate that H&M’s green strategy functions not only as a sustainability orientation but also as a mechanism for risk mitigation, compliance with international regulations, reputation building, and the creation of long-term competitive advantage. The implementation of sustainability strategies in Bangladesh reflects the company’s efforts to respond to global pressures while maintaining legitimacy and investment sustainability in a key producer country.
