Abstract
The mode of delivery significantly influences milk production. Mothers undergoing a Sectio Caesarea (SC) tend to experience delayed lactation compared to those with a normal delivery. This is primarily due to postoperative pain, which inhibits breast stimulation and consequently reduces breast milk volume. As a solution, Acupoint-Tuina can be utilized as a complementary therapy. This traditional Chinese massage technique works by stimulating specific acupuncture points to improve the circulation of vital energy (Qi) and blood (Xue), which physiologically increases serum prolactin levels to trigger lactation. The purpose of this Nursing Final Scientific Paper is to illustrate the results of implementing Acupoint-Tuina as an evidence-based nursing practice for enhancing lactation in post-SC mothers. This application was conducted on two post-SC patients, showing significant improvements. In the first patient: Milk production, which was initially absent, increased to 10 ml after 24 hours and reached 15 ml after 48 hours. In the second patient: Production increased drastically from less than 1 ml to 40 ml after 24 hours and reached 60 ml after 48 hours. The results prove that Acupoint-Tuina is an effective non-pharmacological therapy for improving lactation in post-SC mothers who frequently face breastfeeding challenges.
