Abstract

This study presents the design and implementation of an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) system using TRIAC-based Solid State Relays (SSR) controlled by an Arduino Nano. The system integrates a Solar Power System (PLTS) as the primary power source and the utility grid (PLN) as a backup source. Voltage sensors are employed to monitor battery and supply conditions, enabling automatic power transfer based on predefined voltage thresholds. Experimental results show that the system operates reliably, transferring power from the primary source to the backup source when the battery voltage drops below 11.8 V and returning to the primary source when the voltage exceeds 12.5 V. The measured switching times are approximately 0.08 seconds and 0.084 seconds for each transfer direction, demonstrating fast and efficient operation. The proposed ATS system is suitable for applications requiring continuous electrical power with minimal interruption.
