Abstract

The birth of a baby is a crucial moment, where newborns (0-28 days) are susceptible to skin problems such as diaper rash, which accounts for 10-20% of skin diseases in babies. This problem can affect the comfort and health of the baby. Nurses play a crucial role in prevention through education and intervention. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) shows effectiveness in healing the skin. To evaluate the effectiveness of VCO in treating impaired skin integrity in the form of diaper rash in the Perinatology room of Pasar Minggu Regional Hospital. In patient By.Ny.T, VCO intervention showed significant improvement within five days, with the degree of rash decreasing from 2.0 (moderate) to 0 (none). Patient By.Ny.V also showed improvement, with the degree of rash decreasing from 2.0 to 1.0 (mild) after using Trifamycetin ointment. Interventions in accordance with the Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standards (SIKI) are effective in treating respiratory problems and impaired skin integrity. It is recommended to consider using Virgin Coconut Oil as part of a baby skin care protocol to treat and prevent diaper rash, especially in babies at high risk for impaired skin integrity.
