Abstract
Anesthesia is the administration of drugs that temporarily reduce consciousness during surgery and can cause side effects such as nausea and vomiting. Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) often occurs in the first 24 hours after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Wristband acupressure at the P6 point is one of the non-pharmacological interventions that is effective in reducing nausea and vomiting through nerve stimulation and increasing beta-endorphins and serotonin. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of P6 wristband acupressure in nursing care for patients with postoperative cholelithiasis. Using a case study method based on Evidence Based Nursing, the intervention was carried out 1 hour after surgery with 3 minutes of pressure every hour at a depth of 1-2 cm. The results of the implementation of EBN showed a significant decrease in nausea and vomiting symptoms. At 1 hour after surgery, both patients, Mrs. L and Mrs. N, experienced moderate nausea and vomiting with RINVR scores of 13 and 12, respectively. After the wristband acupressure intervention at the P6 point and monitored for 6 hours after surgery, both RINVR scores decreased to 5, which is classified as mild nausea and vomiting. These findings indicate that wristband acupressure therapy at the P6 point has a positive impact on reducing PONV intensity and can be used as a non-pharmacological intervention that complements the administration of antiemetic drugs.
