Abstract
Post-cesarean mothers experience significant physiological and psychological changes. Pain and anxiety are common complaints among this population, and if not properly managed, these conditions may slow the recovery process. One nonpharmacological therapy that has been shown to reduce pain and anxiety, and can be applied to post-cesarean mothers, is lavender aromatherapy. This scientific paper aims to analyze the evidence-based practice (EBP) application of lavender aromatherapy on pain and anxiety levels in post-cesarean section mothers. The method used was a case study involving two post-cesarean mothers who received a 30-minute lavender aromatherapy intervention for 3 days. Pain levels were measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and anxiety levels using the State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-Y1), before and after the intervention. The results showed a decrease in both pain and anxiety levels in both participants. In the managed patient, pain scores decreased from 6 to 5, and anxiety scores from 44 (moderate) to 37 (mild). In the second patient, pain score decreased from 7 to 6 and anxiety scores from 48 (severe) to 39 (moderate). These findings suggest that lavender aromatherapy may serve as an alternative non-pharmacological intervention to reduce pain and anxiety in post-cesarean mothers.
