Abstract
Stroke does not only occur in the elderly, but is also increasingly found in the productive age group. One of the psychological factors that plays an important role in the recovery process is self-acceptance. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-acceptance and physical rehabilitation compliance in productive age post-stroke patients. This study employed a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach involving 91 productive-age post-stroke patients undergoing physical rehabilitation, selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used were the Self-Acceptance Scale and the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale, which had been modified by Kurniawan, 2017. The average age of the respondents in this study was 49 years, the majority were male, the median duration of stroke and rehabilitation was 4 months, and almost all respondents had ischemic stroke. The Spearman test results showed that there was a relationship between self-acceptance and physical rehabilitation adherence (r=0.647; p=0.001) in post-stroke patients of productive age. The strength of the relationship between the variables was strong and positively correlated, meaning that the higher the patient's self-acceptance, the higher the patient's physical rehabilitation adherence and vice versa. Further research is expected to examine other factors that may influence self-acceptance and physical rehabilitation compliance.
