Abstract
Cervical cancer is a major reproductive health problem primarily caused by infection with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). However, HPV vaccination coverage among adolescents remains low, which is largely attributed to inadequate knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy regarding the HPV vaccine. Therefore, innovative, engaging, and youth-oriented health education methods are needed, one of which is the Cervical Health Podcast as an educational medium. This study aimed to determine the effect of educational interventions delivered through the Cervical Health Podcast on adolescents’ knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy regarding the Human Papillomavirus vaccine as an early prevention strategy for cervical cancer. This study employed a quantitative design using a quasi experimental one-group pretest–posttest approach. The sample consisted of 71 respondents selected using the Slovin formula as the sampling technique. Wilcoxon test results showed significant improvements in knowledge (p<0.001), attitudes (p<0.001), and self-efficacy 0,014 (<0,005) after the intervention. The findings indicate that the Cervical Health Podcast educational media had a significant effect on improving adolescents’ knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy related to the HPV vaccine and cervical cancer. The implications of this study suggest that the use of video podcast–based digital educational media can serve as an effective approach to enhancing adolescents’ readiness to receive HPV vaccination and strengthening technology-based health promotion and education efforts. Therefore, the Cervical Health Podcast educational media is recommended to be implemented by schools and healthcare facilities as part of adolescent health education programs and as a supporting strategy for the implementation of HPV vaccination.
