Abstract
This study aims to determine the role of persuasive communication between prison officers as an effort to combat juvenile delinquency at the Jakarta Class II Juvenile Detention Center using persuasive communication, attitude change theory, and attitude components. The method used is qualitative, utilizing primary and secondary data sources. The sampling technique employed is purposive sampling. This study uses the data analysis stages according to Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results of the study show that persuasive communication by officers at the Jakarta Class II LPKA plays a role in shaping changes in the attitudes of young people in care through increased understanding, emotional influence, and the emergence of intentions to change, even though it has not yet directly resulted in changes in criminal behavior. Officers who are able to build trust and closeness make young people more open and willing to accept guidance messages. The content of the messages conveyed, whether related to rules, family, or the future, helps children understand their mistakes, feel the impact, and begin to have the desire to improve themselves. However, the extent of these changes is greatly influenced by the child's family background, psychological condition, and life experiences, so that persuasive communication functions more as a starting point for rehabilitation than as a guarantee of rapid and permanent behavioral change.
