Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health problem that is increasing annually. Hemodialysis is the most widely used form of renal replacement therapy. Although effective, hemodialysis often causes side effects such as fatigue and muscle cramps that can reduce the patient's quality of life. One non- pharmacological intervention that can be used to overcome fatigue and cramps is Swedish Foot Massage. This therapy is a gentle foot massage technique that functions to improve blood circulation, reduce muscle tension, and provide a relaxing effect on the body. This case study aims to analyze nursing care for chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis using Swedish Foot Massage intervention to reduce fatigue and muscle cramps. Therapy was given to two patients for 2 weeks, twice per week, with a duration of 20 minutes per session, during the 3rd or 4th hour of intradialysis. Assessments used the Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS) and the Cramps Questionnaire. Results showed a decrease in fatigue and muscle cramp complaints after 4 sessions of Swedish Foot Massage. This intervention is expected to be a form of evidence-based nursing that can be carried out by hemodialysis nurses to increase comfort and reduce patient fatigue and muscle cramps.
