Abstract

The Geothermal Power Plant (PLPTB) development program has been running for more than 10 years in Padarincang District, Serang Regency, but has yet to reach a clear conclusion. This is due to the rejection of the Padarincang community, which can hinder the PLTPB development process in the Mount Prakasak Padarincang area. There is a social movement called the People's Struggle Alliance (SAPAR) in Padarincang. SAPAR is a forum for the struggle of Padarincang residents to reject the PLPTB development activity in their area. Then, the SAPAR Movement still survives to this day and has succeeded in postponing the geothermal project in the Padarincang area until an undetermined time. SAPAR does not have a membership structure within its movement. The community, Kiai, students and Islamic boarding schools are individuals and parties behind SAPAR to fight the PLTPB management in Padarincang, one of the Islamic boarding schools that rejects it is the Furu Arroudhotul Islamic Boarding School which is vocal in rejecting the PLTPB development. The support from Islamic boarding schools for the SAPAR social movement encouraged researcher to examine the role of Islamic boarding schools in the resource mobilization process carried out by the institution for the SAPAR movement. Researcher used a descriptive qualitative research method with in-depth interview techniques. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique with several criteria that were in accordance with the research problem. In data analysis techniques, researchers used the Resource Mobilization theory to support Islamic boarding schools in the SAPAR alliance. The results showed that the Furu Arroudhotul Baqiat Islamic Boarding School was assessed as a party that provided an alternative view in viewing the geothermal project conflict using a religious approach in socializing joint support with SAPAR in rejecting the construction of the PLTPB in Padarincang. This approach was carried out through regular religious study activities, sermons or lectures, and istighosah in the Padarincang area with SAPAR as a forum for the aspirations of the Padarincang community.
