Abstract
This study aims to examine the winning strategy by Ida Fauziyah during the 2024 general election. This research adopts a qualitative method, with data collected through interviews and literature review, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman data analysis technique. The findings show that although Ida was positioned between incumbent candidates and celebrity politicians, her name ultimately emerged as the winner, securing a legislative seat and helping maintain the PKB party position in the national parliament. The victory of a female legislative candidate such as Ida in the so-called “Electoral District from Hell” (Dapil Neraka) presents an intriguing case for analysis, particularly given her close engagement with women’s groups, especially majelis taklim. This fact reveals various aspects of the political campaign strategies implemented by both Ida Fauziyah and her campaign team. By applying Kotler’s Political Campaign Strategy theory, consisting of segmentation, targeting, and positioning (STP), and examining additional factors that contributed to Ida Fauziyah’s first electoral victory in the Jakarta electoral district, this study finds that success was not solely dependent on a solid STP strategy. Long-established relational networks prior to candidacy, the strategic use of gender and religious identity through the lens of identity politics, and the mobilization of PKB’s party machinery as a political engine also played a crucial role in enabling Ida Fauziyah to secure a seat in the House of Representatives representing Jakarta 2.
