Abstract

The high risk in the construction sector makes the implementation of safety behavior in the work environment an important aspect in minimizing work accidents. In this case, the implementation of safety communication can be used as a preventive effort to develop safety behavior of workers. This study aims to analyze the relationship between visual and verbal safety communication in the development of safety behavior among workers at the Jakarta–Cikampek II South Toll Road Project, Package IIB. The research was conducted using quantitative methods with a cross-sectional design and a sample size of 100 respondents. The Chi-square test results show that there is a significant relationship between safety signs and worker safety behavior (p-value = 0.004) and between safety talks and workers safety behavior (p-value = 0.023). The findings indicate that both safety signs and safety talks contribute to developing workers safety behavior. Therefore, companies should enhance the identification of potential unsafe conditions for appropriate safety sign placement and actively promote consistent participation in safety talks to prevent workplace accidents.
