Abstract
Indonesian-Russian defense cooperation research to improve Indonesia's defense capabilities in the military field in 2019-2024.This cooperation is encouraged to modernize outdated defense equipment and improve military experience in overcoming actual and potential threats to maintain regional stability. This research uses a descriptive analytical approach to describe the facts about the object being studied from data or samples collected using data collection techniques through interviews with sources and literature studies. The objectives of this study are to explain the success of cooperation between the two countries through: (1) strategic dialogue, namely increasing cooperation in the exchange of information, capacity, and capabilities of Indonesian military personnel; (2) the purchase of defense equipment, namely modernizing the TNI's defense equipment to increase combat power; (3) technology transfer, namely the exchange of Indonesian defense technology information to improve knowledge, innovation, and independence; and (4) joint exercises, namely maximizing strategic cooperation between the TNI and the Russian military. These results demonstrate that this success is in line with the implementation of Indonesia's defense policy, which is in accordance with Russia's superiority in various more advanced sectors. This cooperation can place Indonesia in a strategic position in maintaining stability in the Asia-Pacific region and reducing dependence on certain countries.
