Abstract
Background: Ovarian carcinoma is one of the leading causes of gynecological cancer mortality worldwide. Smoking history and hormonal contraceptive use are known risk factors, but their association with histopathological features of surface epithelial ovarian carcinoma remains limited in Indonesia. Objective: To analyze the association between smoking history and hormonal contraceptive use with histopathological features of surface epithelial ovarian carcinoma at RSUP Persahabatan in 2024. Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed 86 medical records of patients with surface epithelial ovarian carcinoma using consecutive sampling. Data were analyzed using Chi-square test with significance level p<0.05. Results: Endometrioid carcinoma was the most common subtype (39.5%). Majority of patients were non-smokers (69.8%) and did not use hormonal contraceptives (60.5%). Smoking history showed significant association with histopathological features (p=0.050), while hormonal contraceptive use did not (p=0.080).Conclusion: Smoking history is significantly associated with histopathological features of surface epithelial ovarian carcinoma, whereas hormonal contraceptive use is not.
