Abstract

This study examines the political communication strategies of Ananda Tohpati to combat the stigma of nepotism ahead of the 2024 Indonesian Legislative Elections. It also investigates the challenges faced by candidates with family ties to officials in building a positive image and gaining public trust. To explore the various creative approaches employed by Ananda, a qualitative method was used, including interviews and literature research. The findings indicate that Ananda's success is not solely dependent on his family background but also on his dedication and engagement with the community. He demonstrated that door-to-door campaigns and programs responsive to community needs significantly reduced the stigma of nepotism and increased voter support which aligns with the principles of Harold Lasswell’s communication theory. This study emphasizes the importance of effective political communication and direct engagement with the public to address negative perceptions and support candidates from political backgrounds with genuine backing.
