Abstract

This study is a quantitative research aimed at examining the effect of fear of missing out (FoMO), self-control, and financial literacy on the financial management behavior of Generation Z who play online games. The phenomenon of increasing credit defaults at the end of 2025, which reflects ineffective financial management behavior, serves as the background of this study. The population of this research consists of Generation Z online game players. Primary data were collected using a purposive sampling technique, resulting in 115 Generation Z online game players as respondents. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the SmartPLS 4 application at a 5% significance level. The results indicate that hypothesis 1 is accepted, hypothesis 2 is rejected, and hypothesis 3 is accepted. Therefore, the findings of this study conclude that fear of missing out (FoMO) has a negative effect on financial management, self-control has no significant effect on financial management, and financial literacy has a positive effect on financial management.
