Abstract

Objective With 66,271 recorded cases in 2022, breast cancer currently ranks as the leading malignancy in Indonesia. Enhancing clinical management involves categorizing the breast cancer into molecular subtypes (luminal A, luminal B, human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER2) type, and Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC)). The development of these subtypes is influenced by various factors, including age and body mass index (BMI). However, existing data regarding how age and BMI correlate with specific molecular subtypes remains inconsistent. This research seeks to analyze the relationship between patient age and body mass index with the breast cancer molecular subtypes. Method A quantitative, retrospective cohort design was adopted for this study at RSUP Persahabatan. The researches implemented a total sampling technique for the study population. Statistical evaluation included frequency distribution for univariate data and the Chi-Square test for bivariate associations with Fisher's Exact Extended test and cel merger as alternative. Result This study found no statistically significant link between the age of the patient and their specific breast cancer molecular subtype (p=0.941). However, the relationship between BMIN and molecular subtype was found to be statistically significant (p=0,023). Conclusion Age does not significantly correlate with molecular subtypes, potentially due to confounding factors like genetics, lifestyle, and reproductive history. However, BMI shows a significant association with the disease’s molecular classification
