Abstract
Objective To describe the neurocognitive profiles of conventional executive function (FEK) and transcendental executive function (FET) in the population of Jakarta using the PASH-BRAINS instrument, and to analyze the associations between demographic factors and executive function dimensions. Methods An analytic descriptive study with a cross-sectional design involving 140–141 respondents from Jakarta. Executive functions (FEK and FET) were assessed using the Psychological Assessment For Spiritual Health and Brain Function Screening (PASH-BRAINS). Data analysis included descriptive statistics to characterize FEK and FET profiles and correlational analysis to examine relationships between FEK, FET, and demographic variables. Results Most respondents exhibited mild to moderate impairment in FEK (49.6% and 41.1%, respectively), with only a small proportion classified as normal (7.8%) or severely impaired (1.4%). In contrast, the majority of respondents demonstrated optimal (47.5%) or functional (48.9%) FET, with a minority categorized as suboptimal (3.5%). A significant correlation was found between FEK and FET, and prefrontal cortical function was shown to significantly influence value-based decision-making ability. Conclusion The Jakarta population studied predominantly shows mild to moderate impairment in conventional executive function, while transcendental executive function remains largely optimal or functional. The PASH-BRAINS instrument is effective in profiling both domains and in identifying significant relationships among executive function components, supporting its potential use for early detection and intervention in cognitive and spiritual health within urban settings.
