Abstract
Objective: Depression is one of the most common mental health disorder among elderly. Factors such as poor sleep quality and dependence in performing daily activities play a role in increasing the risk of depression in elderly. This study aims to determine the correlation between sleep quality and the level of dependence in activities of daily living on depression in elderly at the Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia 3 nursing home. Method: This study used a cross-sectional design with a sample size of 40 elderly people at the Budi Mulia 3 Nursing Home. The research instrument was a questionnaire PSQI, Index Barthel, and GDS-15 with data analysis using Spearman's rank correlation test. Result: The results of this study indicate that the majority of respondents had poor sleep quality (52.5%), were in the independent category (72.5%), and were not depressed (70%). Bivariate analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between sleep quality and depression level (p = 0.1), and there was no significant relationship between the level of dependence on activities of daily living (ADL) and depression level (p = 0.651). Conclusion: The findings indicated that sleep quality and dependence in activities of daily living were not significantly associated with depression in the older adults at the Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia 3 Nursing Home.
