Abstract

PT. Papertech Indonesia is a company operating in the waste paper industry, specifically in the recycling and reprocessing of paper. The production process involves the use of various machines for paper recycling. The machine examined in this study is the Pope Reel machine, which functions as the paper rewinder and recorded the highest downtime, totaling 145.32 hours during the period of July to December 2024. The company currently conducts maintenance once a month; however, maintenance activities are sometimes carried out unexpectedly due to sudden failures. The objective of this study is to identify critical components, develop a machine maintenance schedule, and map the maintenance process flow. To address these issues, an effective and efficient maintenance strategy is required. Therefore, the researcher employs the Reliability Centered Maintenance II (RCM II) method to determine the appropriate maintenance strategy and the Maintenance Value Stream Mapping (MVSM) approach to support process improvement, enhancement, and to visualize an efficient machine maintenance flow. This study identifies three critical components, each with a specific maintenance interval: the Primary Arm (35 hours), the Secondary Arm (493 hours), and the Loading Cylinder (336 hours). The proposed strategy results in a 55% improvement in maintenance efficiency for the Pope Reel machine.
