Abstract
This research analyzes the economic diplomacy strategies employed by Qatar in supporting its success as the host of the 2022 World Cup. As the first Middle Eastern country to host the world's largest sporting event, Qatar faces various challenges ranging from international skepticism, human rights criticism, to extreme climate issues. In response to these challenges, Qatar is emphasizing economic strength through massive investments in infrastructure, tourism promotion, strengthening the national economic image, and utilizing the Qatar Investment Authority to expand its global influence. This economic diplomacy strategy serves as a tool of soft power used to build beneficial international relations, enhance investor confidence, and make the World Cup a catalyst for long-term economic development. This research uses qualitative methods with a case study approach and document analysis techniques. The findings in this study indicate that economic diplomacy is a strategic instrument that not only supports the successful hosting of the World Cup but also strengthens Qatar's position as an important economic actor in the region and the world.
