Abstract
Body composition, particularly body fat percentage, plays a crucial role in determining an individual's health status, both in the short and long term. One of the major health issues associated with increased body fat is obesity. Obesity can elevate the risk of developing metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases. Along with the advancement of modern lifestyles, factors such as screen time intensity, physical activity levels, and snacking habits may contribute to the increase in fat mass among adolescents. This study aims to analyze the relationship between screen time exposure, physical activity, energy intake, and macronutrient intake from snacks with fat mass among adolescents at SMA Negeri 109 Jakarta. The research employed a cross-sectional study design involving 162 eleventh-grade students selected using a stratified random sampling technique. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between screen time intensity (p-value = 0.002), physical activity level (p-value = 0.000), energy intake (p-value = 0.000), protein intake (p-value = 0.000), fat intake (p-value = 0.000), and carbohydrate intake (p-value = 0.000) with fat mass in adoles cents at SMA Negeri 109 Jakarta. Based on these findings, it is recommended that respondents monitor their body fat percentage, make healthier snack choices, increase physical activity, and adopt a balanced intake of energy and macronutrients.
