Abstract
Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a disease with a high incidence and mortality rate worldwide caused by abnormalities of the airways and alveoli, and is characterized by irreversible air circulation limitations. In COPD, chronic bronchitis and emphysema are often found together, although both have different processes. Design: This observation aims to determine the management of physiotherapy in COPD. The observation carried out is an observation in the form of a case study. The observation sample taken was a patient who was medically diagnosed with Acute Exacerbation of COPD, a 54-year-old male. Results: The observation found no changes in the scale of shortness of breath, no changes in posture, increased expansion of the chest wall (thorax), no changes in spasm, no changes in sputum retention. Conclusion: After four physiotherapy evaluations were carried out with interventions using posture correction, breathing control, huffing, purse lip breathing, and chest mobility, results were obtained with thorax development.
