Abstract
This study aims to analyze the factors contributing to the defeat of Imam-Ririn as the incumbent candidates in the 2024 Depok City Regional Election, marking the collapse of PKS's dominance in the region for nearly two decades. Utilizing Peter Schroder's political strategy theory and Morris Fiorina's retrospective voting theory as analytical tools, the qualitative case study method was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the defeat was caused by both internal and external factors. Internally, weaknesses in Imam-Ririn's campaign strategy, which failed to innovate and reach rational voters, led to their defensive approach being outmatched by the aggressive tactics of Supian-Chandra. Additionally, the lack of charisma of Imam Budi Hartono and the overshadowing presence of Muhammad Idris contributed to this defeat. Externally, public fatigue towards PKS's dominance, the influence of Prabowo Subianto's political support as the winner of the 2024 presidential election, and the strong coalition of 12 parties supporting Supian-Chandra also played significant roles. These external factors are closely tied to the public's dissatisfaction with the performance of previous PKS leaders, which opponents effectively leveraged to dismantle PKS's dominance in Depok City.
