Abstract
Green cincau leaves have potential for acne treatment due to their antibacterial activity derived from flavonoid compounds. This study aimed to formulate a facial wash nanogel formulation with the active ingredient green grass jelly extract (Cyclea barbata Miers) and evaluated the characteristics of the nanoparticles and the physical stability of the formulation using varying concentrations of Carbopol 940as a gelling agent. The extract was obtained through ultrasonic extraction, then formulated into a nanogel with five variations of Karbopol concentration: 0%, 0.50%, 0.50%, 0.75%, and 1%. The evaluation was conducted on nanoparticle characteristics using a Particle Size Analyzer and Scanning Electron Microscope. Physical stability tests of the facial wash nanogel included organoleptic evaluation, pH, homogeneity, foam stability, viscosity, spreadability, and adhesion, conducted over 90 days of storage at 45°C and 75% relative humidity (RH). The results showed that the nanoparticle size obtained was 260.6 nm and PDI 0.572. Formula 3 with a carbopol concentration of 1% yielded the most optimal results based on the smallest difference in decrease during physical stability testing. The statistical analyze of all formulations showed a significant value > 0.05, shows that all formulations are stable, both between formulations and against variations in carbopol concentration in stability testing. Thus, green cincau leaf The extract has potentially useful applications as a natural active ingredient in the formulation of a stable and effective acne-fighting facial wash nanogel.
