Abstract

The increasing use of digital devices, particularly computers, in the workplace has triggered various health problems, one of which is Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). High workloads and prolonged screen exposure can negatively impact employees’ work comfort, productivity, and quality of life. This study aimed to identify factors associated with CVS complaints among computer users at the South Jakarta City Mayor’s Office. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of employees who used a computer for at least 2 hours per day. A total of 106 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used included the CVS-Q questionnaire, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), a laser distance meter, and a lux meter. Data were analyzed using bivariate chi-square tests and multivariate multiple logistic regression. The results showed that 80 employees (75.5%) experienced CVS complaints. Bivariate analysis indicated that gender, refractive disorders, duration of computer use, implementation of the 20-20-20 break rule, and local lighting intensity were significantly associated with CVS (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed that gender (aPOR = 16.072; 95% CI: 3.001–86.069) was the dominant factor for CVS complaints. Therefore, preventive efforts such as applying the 20-20-20 break method, providing adequate workplace lighting, and ergonomic education are recommended to reduce CVS risk and maintain employee productivity.
