Abstract
Postpartum anxiety is a common condition experienced by women after childbirth, with a prevalence of approximately 15-30% globally and 20% in Indonesia. The causes are complex, encompassing hormonal changes, stress, mental health history, lack of social support, and the transition to motherhood. Various non-pharmacological therapies are effective in addressing postpartum anxiety, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), physical activity, and relaxation techniques. Thought Stopping, a component of CBT, can help manage negative thoughts and reduce anxiety symptoms. Studies have shown that Thought Stopping therapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels in postpartum mothers. This case study aims to analyze the application of evidence-based nursing in the form of Thought Stopping therapy for patients with anxiety issues, particularly postpartum mothers. The intervention was implemented over three sessions, each lasting 10-15 minutes. Anxiety levels were measured using the PSAS-RSF-C instrument, which consists of 12 items with a score threshold of >26 indicating anxiety and <26 indicating no anxiety, with measurements taken before and after the intervention. This scientific study found that the intervention was effective in reducing anxiety levels in patients, with anxiety scores decreasing from 28 (anxious) to 24 (not anxious). These results suggest that this intervention has the potential to be an alternative solution for addressing anxiety in postpartum mothers.
