Abstract
The increasing elderly population presents significant challenges to the healthcare system, particularly in managing degenerative diseases such as hypertension. Hypertension affects not only physical health but also psychological well-being, often leading to anxiety that can reduce the overall quality of life in older adults. A holistic approach that includes non-pharmacological interventions is necessary for comprehensive management. This study employed a case study method with an evidence-based nursing approach to evaluate the effectiveness of Autogenic Training a deep relaxation technique in reducing anxiety and improving the quality of life in elderly individuals with hypertension. Data were collected based on patient characteristics, anxiety levels, quality of life scores, and clinical outcomes after the intervention. Results showed that Autogenic Training effectively reduced anxiety from a moderate to a mild level and improved quality of life from moderate to good. Additionally, the intervention contributed to more stable blood pressure control. Autogenic Training proved to be an effective non-pharmacological nursing intervention and can be widely implemented in geriatric nursing practice. This approach supports psychological well-being and enhances the overall quality of life in elderly patients.
