Abstract
The postpartum period is a critical time for mothers who are vulnerable to psychological disorders, one of which is baby blues syndrome. According to WHO (2018), the global incidence of baby blues is estimated at 3–8%, with 50% of cases occurring in women of reproductive age, between 20–50 years old. This condition is characterized by mood swings, emotional exhaustion, and difficulties in caring for the baby. This study aims to analyze the application of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) interventions in reducing symptoms of baby blues in postpartum mothers. The study uses a descriptive design with a case study approach. The subject was a postpartum mother with an EPDS score of 8–12 and showing symptoms of baby blues, such as sleep disturbances, emotional instability, and lack of social support from a partner. The MBSR intervention was carried out in three phases: initial baseline, intervention phase, and final baseline. The intervention phase included breathing meditation, sitting meditation, body scan, walking meditation, and mindful eating. The results showed a decrease in baby blues symptoms after the intervention. Additionally, the intervention also helped increase self-confidence and proved to be an effective method to manage the stress experienced. Therefore, MBSR can be considered an effective non-pharmacological approach to managing baby blues in postpartum mothers.
